Instant Wedding Photography Interview

By Interviewer at 01/23/09 08:26

Name of your website?

Instant Wedding Photography

Your name?

Isaac de Reus

Your Location (city, etc)

Hamilton

Please give us a short summary of your website?

We're a wedding photography company that specializes in high-quality, artistic imagery. We have two professional photographers to capture every moment of the wedding day.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

My passion for photography, and the goal of running my own business.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

About 2 years ago, it was a really basic html site I made up myself using a Dreamweaver template. Now my site is professionally designed incorporating html & flash elements, and I'm really happy with it.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

We aim to deliver the photos really quickly after the wedding - hence "Instant Wedding Photography".

What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?

We offer two photographers, and we are really competitively priced. We also have a blog that we regularly update with recent weddings.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

Keep my site running to promote my business

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

Really well so far - I haven't paid for anything except building the site - all my SEO has been free, through submitting to directories and building links.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

Make a completely seperate flash version that people could go into if they wished.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

We do struggle to shoot all the weddings we are currently being booked for - I guess we'd need to hire some more photographers.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

Just equipment really, of setting up a business - it isn't cheap!

What has been your biggest challenge?

Getting my site to appear on Page #1 of Google for all of my key target search terms - which it now does!

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Probably Facebook - along with Google Ads

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

It is far more time consuming than I would have imagined!

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

I have run it for 2 years, and I will keep doing it as long as I enjoy it!

What is your long-term goal?

To establish a solid business where my site plays a role in booking clients, but to not need to rely on my website for bookings - as hopefully once I am more established word-of-mouth will bring in more clients.

What is your website address?
