Fabian Rossano Studio Interview

By Interviewer at 10/14/07 11:00

Name of your website?

Fabian Rossano Studio

Your name?

Michelle Rossano

Your Location (city, etc)

New York

Please give us a short summary of your website?

The FRSTUDIO.COM web site presents a tour of the studio's services in digital photography, graphic design, printing and web site design. Private web pages are set up for clients to communicate photo and design approvals, throughout production. Visitors to the site and potential customers can view the online portfolio and submit requests for further information.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

The FRSTUDIO.COM website was launched to electronically promote Fabian Rossano's photography and design portfolio. Through print campaigns, the web site continues to be marketed to apparel designers and manufacturers, promoting the concept of a "full service" studio producing catalogs, ads and various marketing materials.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

In 1996. Fabian Rossano was one of the earliest photographers to launch a web site through spacelab.net as a means to commercially promote his work.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

FRSTUDIO.COM, represents the initials of Fabian Rossano, a NYC based art director, photographer and graphic artist living in a downtown loft/artist studio.

What makes it different from other, similar offerings?

The FRSTUDIO.COM web site is unique in that the site was first implemented to promote the concept of a full service photo and design studio. Today, Fabian Rossano Studios Inc. is growing into a boutique ad agency with an international clientelle.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

To grow our business and work more globally.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

Phenomenal. A definite learning curve that takes a lot of time and work. Creatively, it's both fullfilling and lucrative.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

1) Advertise 2) Build features to allow potential customers to access immediate price points and process orders for commercial printing services.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

YES. Like any other business, we would hire people.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

Unexpected costs, none. Headaches with servers.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Web positioning.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Incorporating the FRSTUDIO.COM web site into an integrated marketing plan. Identifying our target audience and drawing traffic to the site through print advertising and mailers.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

Expectations usually lead to disappointments. Instead, we try to focus on goals. This way, there's always an opportunity to think in a new direction.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

We will always want to keep it up, regardless of monetary profit.

What is your website address?
