Chris Perry Photography Interview

By Interviewer at 05/25/09 14:12

Name of your website?

Chris Perry Photography

Your name?

Chris Perry

Your Location (city, etc)

Ely

Please give us a short summary of your website?

Chris' enthusiasm for photography shines through in each of his photographs, as does his love of our home, the north woods of Minnesota. Chris' many subjects are captured in the most unique and powerful composition with each presenting the most significant perspective of beauty in his wildlife, landscape, and night photographs. Chris truly loves what he does and though he hopes that you enjoy every photograph as much as he enjoys taking them, he also hopes that they remind you to pay attention to the small, ordinary pieces of your everyday life and to not let these simple beauties go on unnoticed or unappreciated.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

I wanted a place for visitors of our physical gallery to visit after they left

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

2000

How did you decide on a name for your website?

This is the name of my Gallery

What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?

I specialize in northern lights and Boundary Waters photography not often found online

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

Expand our gallery in Ely and also open new locations in Grand Marias and Duluth, MN.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

I feel very fortunate to have been so successful

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

I would open the other locations immediately

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

Yes, I have an assistant to deal with it as well

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

Renovations of the gallery

What has been your biggest challenge?

Finding enough hours in the day for the gallery, getting out to photograph and personal time.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Printed materials (cards, bumper stickers, magnets) handed out at events or in the gallery.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

I knew what I was getting into!

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

I will keep it forever

What is your website address?
