Name of your website?

Axis Digital Photography

Your name?

Simon Mason

Your Location (city, etc)

Bolton, Lancashire

Please give us a short summary of your website?

I offer a variety of different services from Product photography, inertia design, industrial, live event, photographic art, Commissions to portraits. I have been taking photographs since I was a child, I purely live for taking photographs and I have the shear drive and dedication to make my business succeed.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

To promote my business and also my reputation as a photographer and artist,

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

I launched my website 6 months ago.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

I decided to call my website Axis Digital Photography, as this promotes a more modern up to date photography business, Plus the title begins with the letter A which gives the business a more chance of being seen before other business in indexed listings.

What makes it different from other, similar offerings?

We provide a more versatile Service, to offer our customers more options to either promote their business, or help in advertising their products.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

To carry on being a photographer, also to get my works published and build a good reputation, and also make a decent living.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

This market is very competitive, I would say that this is my first year of business and that it will be a while before I am in profit to be realistic, due to nature of the business which works of reputation and that can take time.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

First I would like to purchase a larger studio, then I would expand my advertising budget so that I could attract more mainstream business, I would also aim to employ more photographers as when and if the workload grows.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

Yes I truly believe that I would be able to cope with the day to day running of my business, I would expand my staff as the business expands.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

Advertising for one, Liability & equipment insurance was quite expensive, also replacing photographic equipment (upgrading) and purchasing new equipment to cater for other photographic services that we provide.

What has been your biggest challenge?

I would say that starting this Commercial photography business is my biggest challenge.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Google ad words has helped, also advertising in yell.com, I have also starting swapping links and submitting my URL with other photography networks, which has also helped in increasing much needed traffic to my website.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

I have found that running the site has been quite easy, the only problem I have had is attracting traffic and potential clients which has proved very difficult and a slow process without and expensive.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

I have been running my site now for just over six months; I have put a lot of hours and work into developing it to make it more manageable, I will most certainly keep my site going for as long as I can; as I really enjoy the whole concept of it.

What is your website address?
