Moments In Time Wedding, Portrait & Commercial Photography Interview

By Interviewer at 06/23/08 02:58

Name of your website?

Moments In Time Wedding, Portrait & Commercial Photography

Your name?

Marie-Claire

Your Location (city, etc)

Northland

Please give us a short summary of your website?

I have designed my own website to show case my photography. I love my job and hope it shows in my relaxed, photojournalistic style of photography. Weddings are my favourite, I love to capture the emotion of the moment with as little 'posing' as possible.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

Having recently returned to my home country of New Zealand I wanted to get my work and my name out there to get my photography business up and running again!

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

In Australia I launched my first web page with AOL promoting my photography business that I owned and operated on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

I tried to come up with a name which describes what i do - capture peoples special 'moments in time' :)

What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?

My work is unique to each client as I work with them to capture their special personalities and things as they happen on the day. I think outside of the box for my shots and try to be creative as possible, recording even little details that will mean something to my clients

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

Keep it and keep improving it

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

It's working really well, people appreciate getting to see my work and see if it's what they have in mind even before they have to make contact.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

As I am an amateur web site builder i do like the look of the professional swish sites so if I had an unlimited budget I'd probably invest in a super duper site - but at the moment I'm happy with what I've made

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

I only accept enough clients that I can give personal care to but my daughter is learning photography alongside me so we can definitely grow!

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

None so far, I've done this before so start out small, only pay for what I can afford and don't stretch myself too thin (hence the free web page and free directory listings :))

What has been your biggest challenge?

Getting my name out there

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Getting on some of the established web directories has been great

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

It hasnt really it's been all good

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

just a few months, no plans to change at this stage

What is your website address?
