Please give us a short summary of your website?
My website is a collection of online image galleries featuring my works. Although my photographic art takes you primarily around Jamaica, exposing you to the island’s rich culture, architecture, nature, and laid-back lifestyle, it’s the people that make my camera clicks. I really love capturing the expressions, moods, and individual characteristics of people. My work has been featured in many exhibits across Jamaica and also the USA. I have been shooting for over twenty years and is the recipient of numerous national awards. Due to a growing demand for my Caribbean imagery from leading photo-researchers, and editors from around the world, Photographic Art Jamaica now features an extensive searchable stock library of Caribbean imagery.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
I guess I just wanted to share my photographic art with the world.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
My first website was launch i 2004. It was a free facility for artists. I later purchased my domain name and that was the beginning of Photographic art Jamaica!
How did you decide on a name for your website?
I approach photography as a art form and I wanted a name that speaks to that fact.
What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?
I suppose we are different in that we offer more than just photographic art. We are into events photography, including destination weddings, and we also offer high quality searchable stock photo service.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
Keep it!
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
Balancing pretty well at the moment.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
I have some exiting ideas for Photographic Art Jamaica. An unlimited development budget would certainly allow me to go ahead with plans sooner than later.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
No. I would need to employ help. In fact, presently there are times when I do have to employ help.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
As a pro. for me the costs of equipments are not unexpected. ... headaches? yes!
What has been your biggest challenge?
First it was getting a site going then it was to gain some page rank.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
Not really.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
My site has been going for four year plus. I plan to keep it going, and hopefully growing, indefinitely.
